By ChattyParrot, on February 21st, 2012% I have a male African Grey Congo, about 1 1/2 years of age. I’ve had him for 6 months and he won’t talk or stop whistling. Most of the time he’ll only whistle the same loud tune over and over again, which sounds like he’s whistling for a dog . He does this when I leave the room , or people are talking to each over from across different rooms , or someone other than me enters and leaves the room with me in the room or not, or he’ll do it at random inside and outside of his cage, mainly when he’s not getting attention at that moment but he’ll sometimes do it when he is getting attention. I can sometimes get him to stop when I cover his cage. I assumed that he’s doing this for attention. For about 3 months I’ve been ignoring him while he whistles trying to teach him that . . . → Read More: My African Grey keeps whistling and won’t talk, any advice? read details
By ChattyParrot, on February 21st, 2012% I have a sun conure. I’ve had him for almost 4 years. I use to live in a big house and he pretty much had his own room. Now I have moved out and I live in a 1 bedroom apartment.
It is very difficult with him because he wants to stay with me all the time, I can’t even use the bathroom without him making so much noise. We have to move his cage into the bedroom so that we can cook without danger to him but if he knows were in the apartment he will not stay quite until I go stand at the cage with him.
I think a solution may be to get him a companion, but at the same time I do not want to end up with double the problem. I need some expert advice because I WILL NOT give him up.

By ChattyParrot, on February 21st, 2012% Ok so for the past weeks I’ve been trying to feed Quincy(sun conure) different kinds of foods. For the most of it(almost all the food I prepared for him), he wouldn’t even bother to try them. There would be times that he would try and eat it, and this is when I take him out of his cage. I would hold the bowl and he will be perching on my hand. After some time and a little nudging, he would start to taste them and if the heavens are on my side, he would eat.
Just now he’s on my hand eating oatmeal. I left it inside his cage for about 5-10 mins and he didn’t even bother going in front of the bowl. When I took him out, he started eating it.
Not really sure if this is the reason why he’s trying new food, but I think that this IS a . . . → Read More: Parrot trying new foods already!

By ChattyParrot, on February 19th, 2012% I have a CAG.Recently I’ve had a bad cold and she’s been a lot more affectionate and I’ve been trying to avoid my interaction with her because I’m afraid she could catch my cold.Ive heard that they can and can’t so I wanted to see if I could get a more certain answer.Today she crawled on my shoulder and I couldnt remember if I wiped my nose where she was earlier when I wasn’t thinking. So I took her and washed her feet.I just don’t want to hurt her. Thanks in advance.

By ChattyParrot, on February 19th, 2012% Hello All, I’m looking into getting a pet bird as a first time owner I have my heart set on a cockatiel. The only problem is that I’ve read that they create a lot of feather dust and since I have asthma and allergies to dander, if it would be a bad idea. I would like your advice on if any of you have allergies and still own this beautiful bird or known people who have. I might just end up making me decide on a different bird. Thanks in advance!

By ChattyParrot, on February 18th, 2012% I finally got my yellow side green cheeked conure! I name her Charlotte! :3 the lady dropped her off today, poor thing was absolutely terrified she showed me how to handle her i pet her and put her back, I covered half her cage with a towel so she can feel safe on one side but still see whats going on, after my son went to bed and it was quiet i held her, she is pretty sweet to me even though we just met! we cuddled a bit, i rubbed off some pin feathers she seemed happy with that, she can a scoot around and i put her back, not too much besides she has a scab from where a macaw pulled out her tail feathers, poor thing i don’t want her to go around too much incase it comes off, its going to be pretty much a 10 min cuddle or so than . . . → Read More: ***UPDATE *** -” I’m so excited! ”

I let him climb on top of his cage for the last few days, ne love it he will walk around and sing and play..the problem is the last 3 nights he has been sleeping in the bottom of the of the cage.. is it maybe because he loves the top of the cage so much and the bottom is also wire with a pull out tray on it?? or is he sick??

My female canary (1 year old) is strangely losing feathers near her left nostril… You can see her peach colored skin is revealed… At first I thought she’s just molting, but as it spreads more I began to worry.
Her daily care is excellent if I could say so myself: varied diet of seeds , vegetables, and fruits, with the occassional honey in her drinking water once a week. she reguarly takes baths, and is let to bask under morning sun for vitamin D and germ killing. every morning and afternoon she chirps actively and cheerfully, even plays around like usual.
The only problem is with her loss of feathers… So why and how did this happen? Thank you all… Attached Images untuk ditanyakan.jpg (272.3 KB) symptoms.jpg (318.0 KB)

By ChattyParrot, on February 15th, 2012% Is it harmful to other birds? My Cockatiel had been spending a lot of time prancing around on top of the Parakeets cages. One of them appeared to be sick for a few days. Scruffy looking, fluffed up, and sleeping a lot. Today he seems to be recovering just fine. His eating and droppings never changed. I put a towel over the top of the cage a couple of days ago and the Cockatiel stopped his visits. I’m thinking his absence had something to do with the recovery.

By ChattyParrot, on February 14th, 2012% Hi Guys. I got a cockatiel a couple of months ago. When i got him i noticed an area around his right eye was missing it’s feathers. As they started to grow back i didn’t pay much attention. But later on i saw that the ones that grew back were kind of hard and they began closing over his eye lid. and now his eye is almost completely blocked. . I’d take him to a vet but there aren’t any where i live and i have to go all the way to the capital so i decided to ask here first before i go.
Here are some pictures: the first 2 are from about a week ago, the third one is from just now (you can see it’s spread even more) and the 4th is his left (healthy) eye.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Regards. Zvezko
